Located at Quarry Bay, One Island East boasts a height of 308m with 68 stories above ground and two basement levels. It is the tallest building in the eastern area of Hong Kong Island.
The project was pioneering in terms of its use of grade 100 high-strength concrete in walls and columns. The extensive application of grade 100 high-strength concrete helped increase usable floor area by 3,700m2 compared to grade 60 concrete, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 3,500 tones and waste generated by 1,200 tones.
It also pioneered the application of building information modeling (BIM) to improve design coordination and work planning , and to reduce construction time and cost. The complex outrigger details were reviewed three-dimensionally using BIM, and potential problems identified and resolved in advance.
