Shenzhen Bay Bridge (Formerly known as the Hong Kong ─ Shenzhen Western Corridor)

Arup
Between Shenzhen at Shekou and Hong Kong at Lau Fau Shan crossing Deep Bay

Shenzhen Bay Bridge (SBB) is a corridor about 5.5km long with dual three-lane carriageway linking Shenzhen at Shekou and Hong Kong at Lau Fau Shan crossing Deep Bay. It is the fourth vehicular boundary crossing and was jointly implemented by the HKSAR Government and Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government with each government responsible for the design and construction of the portion of SBB within their own boundaries.

The design of SBB has paid particular attention to various environmental concerns such as impacts to water quality at Mai Po, protection to natural habitat, possible bird collision with man-made structures, etc. Indeed, to minimise the impacts on the marine environment, the whole section crossing Deep Bay is on structures.

With such prominent and elegant appearance, SBB has become an iconic structure in Deep Bay. It is also an important link between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Its commissioning strengthens our position as the gateway to the Mainland.
