The Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL) is a 26-km long rail, running from the West Kowloon Terminus in Hong Kong to Futian Station in Shenzhen, where it connects with the Mainland’s 25,000-km long national high-speed rail network.

ATAL Engineering Group is engaged in the design and installation of all Building Services for more than 10 buildings at the XRL Pat Heung Depot, including the Administrative Building, Running Maintenance Shed and XRL Central Control Centre; 10 ventilation buildings as well as tunnel emergency rescue and evacuation exit in the Hong Kong section.

ATAL also provided Information and Communications Technology (ICT) solutions for XRL, including an award-winning Tunnel Access Control System (TACS) for construction workers, and the new generation e-channels for passengers at the XRL West Kowloon Terminus, involving the design and installation of the 51 e-channel kiosks.

Customised for the XRL Hong Kong Section, the TACS is designed, developed and integrated by ATAL to achieve high safety levels in a challenging tunnel environment. The System won two bronze awards in the category of Best Smart Hong Kong (Internet of Things Application) at the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2015, and Guangdong-Hong Kong IoT Awards respectively.
