The HKIE Professional Volunteers Service Accreditation Programme
(Session 2023/2024)

 

Aims

As supported by the Hong Kong Council of Volunteering (HKCOV) and Agency for Volunteer Service (AVS), the HKIE Professional Volunteers Service Accreditation Programme aims:

  • to promote volunteerism among HKIE members;
  • to encourage HKIE members to play a proactive role in providing social services;
  • to promote the image of engineers;
  • to raise the standing and visibility of the engineering profession; and
  • to recognise HKIE members' contributions in rendering services to the community

 

Types of Awards

All HKIE members, irrespective of membership grade, are encouraged to take part in the Programme by submitting their volunteer services records to the Secretariat for consideration and vetting by the Selection Committee of the Programme.

Members as recommended by the Selection Committee will be eligible for consideration for the following awards which are established to acknowledge their volunteer services:

 

Silver Certificate Award
  Members who have undertaken not less than 50 hours of volunteer services during the given period are eligible for consideration of the award.
   
Gold Certificate Award
  Members who have undertaken not less than 100 hours of volunteer services during the given period are eligible for consideration of the award.
   
Grand Leadership Award
  Members with more than 150 hours of volunteer services during the given period are eligible for consideration of the award.

 

Accreditation Hours of Volunteer Services

Members who fulfill the basic requirements for the three awards, i.e. undertaking more than the minimum number of hours of volunteer services respectively during the given period will be eligible for consideration of the respective awards.

Vetting and Selection

The Selection Committee of the Programme is responsible for checking the volunteer services records submitted by members and making recommendation of members who are eligible for the awards for consideration and approval by the HKCOV.

The Selection Committee reserves the right to reject any application/submission from members and has the final decision on the definition and scope of volunteer services under the Programme.

 

Submission of Volunteer Services Record

Members who are interested to participate in the Programme shall complete and return the Volunteer Services Record Form to the Secretariat by email by Wednesday, 31 July 2024. The Volunteer Services Record Form shall include the volunteer services undertaken by members from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024. Documentary evidence for the volunteer services shall be available for checking upon request by the Selection Committee.
An acknowledgement will be sent to participants upon submission of the Volunteer Services Record Form. If you do not receive the acknowledgement within 14 days, please contact us immediately at Tel: 2895 4446.
