Objectives
  • To enhance engineers’ awareness of the risks and consequences of corruption and malpractices in the workplace;
  • To equip engineers with the necessary legal knowledge and practical skills to identify and handle ethical dilemmas as a defence against corruption and malpractices; and
  • To complement the “Build on Integrity – E-learning Course on Professional Ethics and Corruption Prevention for Engineers in the Construction Industry” and provide an opportunity to clarify queries.
Contents
  • The importance of professional ethics
  • Current corruption scene and ICAC’s integrated approach in fighting corruption
  • Case studies to discuss how to handle ethical dilemmas, e.g. conflict of interest, etc.
  • Prevention of Bribery Ordinance with illustrative cases from ICAC investigative files
  • HKIE/ICAC advice on practicing ethics

Remarks

Course participants would be recommended to gain 2.5 CPD hours for (a) completion of the “Build on Integrity – E-learning Course on Professional Ethics and Corruption Prevention for Engineers in the Construction Industry” (recommended for 1 CPD hour) on https://hkbedc.icac.hk/construction-elearning/engine.html before attending the seminar; and (b) attendance in this seminar (recommended for 1.5 CPD hours)
