Young Engineer of the Year Award 2025
Call for Nominations
The Young Engineer of the Year Award is organised by The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) in recognition of local outstanding young engineers who have made valuable contributions to the continuous development of Hong Kong through their engineering achievements. It is a prestigious honour for our young engineers of the local engineering profession.
Purposes
- To recognise and honour outstanding young engineers who have made commendable achievements and valuable contributions as engineers to the continuous development of Hong Kong
- To encourage active participation and contribution of young engineers to the engineering profession and the community
- To promote and foster professionalism, dedication, enthusiasm and leadership among young engineers
Eligibility
Nominations are invited for the selection of the Young Engineer of the Year Award 2025. Candidates should be
- a Corporate Member of the HKIE;
- of age 35 or below at the closing deadline of nomination on 2 December 2024;
- nominated by a Corporate Member of the HKIE or by a public/private organisation. Each nominator or nominating organisation shall nominate ONE entry only. Self-nomination will not be accepted; and
- supported by two referees who should be Corporate Members of the HKIE.
Selection Criteria
Eligible candidates will be judged based on their achievements, contributions and involvements in the engineering profession. Candidates’ active involvement in and contribution to the HKIE and the community would also be favourably assessed.
Selection Process
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews by the Panel of Judges in January 2025. The award winner will be notified by February 2025.
Proposal for Nomination
Proposals for nomination must include
- a completed Nomination Form;
- nomination from a Corporate Member of the HKIE or by a public/private organisation;
- reports from two referees providing written character references for the candidate, which confirm his/her achievements and contributions as an engineer to the engineering profession and the community; and
- copies of relevant supporting documentation, where appropriate.
Award Presentation
Presentation of the Award will be made at The HKIE Grand 50th Annual Dinner tentatively on 3 April 2025. The award winner will receive a trophy and an award certificate. The Institution will support the award winner to represent the HKIE to attend a conference outside of Hong Kong within one year following the day of receipt of the Award. Certificates of Merit would also be given at the discretion of the Panel of Judges.
Nomination Deadline
All nominations must reach the HKIE Secretariat by email to corpcom@hkie.org.hk no later than 5:00 pm (Hong Kong Time) on Monday, 2 December 2024. Late submissions will not be considered by the Panel of Judges.
