The Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM) provides general rules for evaluating and expressing uncertainty in measurement that can be followed at various levels of accuracy and in many testing and calibration areas.
This two-days course provides participants an overview of the knowledge and skills required to estimate measurement uncertainty based on the GUM Guidelines; interpretation of testing (in particular laboratory) and calibration results with consideration of measurement uncertainty.
The course aims to engage participants in the analysis and application of the knowledge and skills for the evaluation of measurement uncertainty based on the GUM Guides. A significant focus will be placed on the application of the measurement uncertainty for the determination of conformity of results, in particular laboratory testing.
- Introduction to the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in measurement (GUM)
- Overview of statistical tools and significant digits
- Estimation of standard uncertainties for components
- Calculation of combined and expanded uncertainties
- Reporting and application of measurement uncertainty
