The Applicant should prepare a 15-minute presentation of the projects they have submitted, along with any necessary records, plans, calculations, images, etc., to illustrate their professional experiences. The objective is to test the Applicant’s presentation skills as a professional engineer. 

 

Presentation Slide Best Practices

Begin with 10 minutes presentation regarding the report submitted (~10 slides, if available) before the interview.

Professional Assessment Interview
During the interview, Applicants must provide compelling evidence that they meet all the competencies outlined in the HKIE Competence Standard for Professional Engineers (Corporate Members):

Project Experience: Demonstrate substantial involvement in appropriate engineering projects.

Training Reflection: Reflect on your professional development and how your training shaped your engineering capabilities.

Competence Alignment: Clearly link your experiences to the HKIE competence requirements through examples and outcomes.

Remember

  • Use “I”, “Me”, “My” (not “We” or “You”)
  • Abbreviation e.g. Tunnel Ventilation System (TVS)
  • Relevant part or sessions of reports, plans, calculations, photographs, etc., in appropriate format for easy discussion
  • Logical, sensible and precision presentation

Focus

  •   About 3 projects, which can best show your competence
  • Demonstrate your original work / thought / judgement / applying mechanical knowledge / innovative ideas
  • No need cover all 7 core subjects but focus to demonstrate the core subject(s) you are familiar with.

Attention

  • Clarify with assessor’s question to prevent misleading assessor’s evaluations
