The Manufacturing, Industrial & Systems (MIS) Division of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) has a very wide engineering spectrum covering three different but related professions namely manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering and systems engineering. The Division was established in 1978 and formerly named as Production & Industrial Engineering Division and Manufacturing & Industrial Division. The MIS Division gears towards promoting innovation and smart technology, facilitating exchange of information and ideas among members and societies, and raising the standing and visibility of the engineering profession concerned.
As a professional and learned body, the Manufacturing, Industrial & Systems (MIS) Division arranges a broad range of activities including conferences, seminars, workshops, technical visits and project competitions with the following objectives:
- To promote the advancement of innovation, technology and management practices for manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering and systems engineering
- To facilitate exchange of information and ideas among members and kindred societies
- To raise the standing and visibility of the MlS engineering profession
