The Materials Division was established in 1988 with the mission of promoting excellence in materials engineering across various industries. Our members come from diverse backgrounds, including the manufacturing sector, building and construction industry, and laboratory testing fields.
Since its inception, the Materials Division has played a crucial role in fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among professionals. Our members are dedicated to advancing the science and application of materials, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of safety, sustainability, and innovation.
The Division serves as a platform for engineers to engage in professional development through seminars, workshops, and technical visits. These activities not only enhance our members’ expertise but also encourage the adoption of best practices in materials selection and usage. By focusing on emerging trends and technologies, we aim to address the challenges facing the industry today, including sustainability and efficiency.
As we move forward, the Materials Division remains committed to supporting our members in their professional journeys and contributing to the broader engineering community in Hong Kong.
The Materials Division’s primary focus is to provide engineers from all divisions in the HKIE and in Hong Kong with better information related to advanced and reliable materials for their professional practice.
On the other hand, the Materials Discipline accepts and recognizes engineers who have achieved a level of understanding in their specific fields such that they can apply their materials science, technology and engineering knowledge to meet engineering challenges through the use of advanced and reliable materials.
