Programme Highlights
EngSeeds (工程Seeds) is a structured, pathway-driven engineering exploration initiative governed by the HKIE and supported by the Education Bureau (EDB). Designed specifically for Secondary 1 to Secondary 3 (S1–S3) students, the programme addresses early awareness gaps before junior secondary students make critical subject streaming choices.
Through interactive thematic workshops, applied site visits, university immersion, and guided portfolio documentation, the programme introduces students to the 22 engineering disciplines under the HKIE and connects classroom STEAM knowledge with real-world industry practice. Core learning domains cover:
- Construction & Infrastructure
- AI & Digital Engineering
- Robotics & Automation
- ESG & Sustainable Infrastructure
- Biomedical & Health Technologies
- Renewable Energy Systems
Programme Duration & Commitment
Expected student engagement includes:
- Structured workshops or thematic modules
- Applied site visit or laboratory immersion
- Professional sharing or mentorship session
- Portfolio reflection and documentation activities
Monitoring mechanisms include baseline and post programme assessments to evaluate improvements in engineering awareness, applied competencies, and pathway clarity.
Call for Helper and Volunteers
HKIE is seeking passionate young engineers, graduate members, and student members to serve as Helpers, Workshop Facilitators, and Mentors. Volunteers will:
- Facilitate Activities: Lead small-group interactive STEAM workshops and thematic modules.
- Guide Visits: Escort and engage students during site visits and university laboratory immersions.
- Mentor Portfolios: Guide students on reflection logs and engineering portfolio documentation.
- Share Experience: Deliver authentic sharing sessions on academic pathways and real-world engineering careers.
