Dear Fellow Civil Engineers, Members, Colleagues and Industry Partners,
It is my distinct honour to serve as Chairperson of the HKIE Civil Division for the 2026/27 session. This year, we anchor our divisional agenda upon the empowering strategic theme GROW, encapsulating four core pillars to drive professional advancement, industry excellence and sustainable urban development for Hong Kong.
G – Grow Talent, focusing on nurturing our next-generation engineering workforce. We invite students and young graduate members to actively participate in our technical workshops, mentorship programmes and competitions to build solid foundational expertise and accelerate your professional growth.
R – Reinforce Excellence, upholding rigorous civil engineering standards. I encourage all practising engineers to engage in our technical seminars and knowledge-sharing sessions, to update industry best practices and uphold consistent professional integrity in every infrastructure project.
O – Open Networks, expanding cross-disciplinary and regional collaboration. We welcome industry partners and corporate stakeholders to join our exchange platforms, foster synergistic partnerships, and co-create innovative solutions for Hong Kong’s upcoming infrastructure initiatives.
W – Win Trust, elevating the profession’s social value. I urge academic and senior members to continue bridging academia and industry, promote sustainable and climate-resilient engineering, and help secure lasting public recognition and trust for our profession.
With united efforts from all sectors, we will grow stronger as a civil engineering community and contribute steadfastly to Hong Kong’s sustainable urban future.
