I am honoured to serve as the Chairman of the Electronics Division (END) for Session 2026/2027. I sincerely thank you our Immediate Past Chairman, Past Chairmen, Committee Members, Observers, and all helpers for their continued support. Building on the strong foundation of previous sessions, END will continue to deliver high-quality activities that enhance members’ knowledge of electronics and communication engineering.
In the coming session, we will continue to organise our signature events, including the Hong Kong Electronics Symposium, BootCamp, and Annual Dinner. These events provide valuable platforms for networking, knowledge exchange, and collaboration among professionals, industry practitioners, young engineers, and students. Leveraging my experience in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Smart City applications, we will introduce more activities focused on mobility, digital infrastructure, and data-driven city management to enhance understanding of Hong Kong’s smart city development.
In line with the Institution’s theme, “Connect Minds, Empower Tomorrow,” proposed by our President Ir Prof Frank F Chan, we will strengthen multidisciplinary collaboration and foster innovation. We plan to organise joint activities with other Divisions and professional bodies on topics such as smart mobility, connected infrastructure, and AI-enabled city services. We also intend to establish a platform for members to exchange views on technology standardisation and developments in emerging fields, including the Low-altitude Economy (LAE) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
We will continue to strengthen engagement in the Greater Bay Area through established collaborations, creating more opportunities for professional exchange, development, and industry integration.
“Nurturing the Youth” remains a key priority. We will continue promoting STEM and AI initiatives with greater emphasis on practical applications in smart mobility and smart city solutions. Through the BootCamp and other programmes, students can develop practical skills, explore innovative technologies, and broaden their horizons.
We are committed to promoting excellence and professionalism in electronics, communications, and related engineering fields, particularly in emerging technologies and sustainable city development.
I look forward to your continued support and participation in our upcoming activities.
Ir Andy LAM
