Chairman's Message

It is my great honor and pleasure to serve as the Chairman of the Gas & Energy Division for the 2026/2027 term.

Firstly, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to all past Chairmen, immediate Past Chairman Ir Brian Ng for their dedication, guidance and tremendous mentoring throughout the years. Secondly, great appreciation must also give to our division Committee members, Co-opt, Observer and helpers for their excellent works, contribution and making many successful activities to members and the industry.

Looking ahead, I am fully committed to continue the strong collaboration with various divisions and arrange future activities for better performing buildings for society and the environment. My focus for this new term centres on several key areas:

• Knowledge Sharing – we will continue to arrange various technical activities, technical seminars and conferences to support members stay current with industry developments, emerging technologies, and regulatory updates – including the latest advances in green energy and hydrogen
• Industry collaboration – strengthening ties with government bodies, utilities companies, and academic institutions will remain a priority, fostering cross-sector dialogue and joint initiatives to accelerate the adoption of cleaner energy sources
• Cross-division joint activities – we will continue to actively participate in and organize joint event with other HKIE divisions, promoting interdisciplinary exchange and reinforcing our collective commitment to the institutional’s mission of serving the engineering profession and the community
• Young Engineers – we are committed to nurturing the next generation through mentorship programmes, internships, and various platforms that give young professionals a voice and a stake in our industry’s future, particularly in the evolving green energy landscape.
• Climate Action – Decarbonisation and sustainability will underpin our activities, as we champion practical solutions to reduce emissions, enhance energy efficiency, and explore green energy pathways – from renewable energy to hydrogen. We must make carbon reduction and green energy as part of our daily lives, embedding sustainable practices into everything we do, both professionally and personally.

Finally, our ultimate goal is clear: to contribute meaningfully to Hong Kong’s carbon neutrality targets while upholding the highest professional standards in all that we do. By working together – sharing knowledge, forging partnership, empowering our young engineers, and embracing green energy –  we can build a better, more sustainable world for the next generation!
