Introduction
The 2025 World Tunnel Congress (WTC2025), the world’s top tunnel and underground engineering industry congress, will be held in Stockholm, Sweden from 9 to 15, May, 2025. This congress will focus on the latest trends and sustainable development trends in tunnel and underground engineering. In order to promote the development of the industry and the progress of society, the congress advocate energy-saving, environmentally friendly, green and low-carbon, intelligent and safe solutions.
WTC2025 (Stockholm) welcomes experts and scholars from all over the world to attend. Sweden’s experience of underground construction dates back more than a century. This development is sometimes referred to as being a result of good rock conditions. Examples of early use of the underground, other than for mining purposes, include hydroelectric power plants, traffic tunnels and military facilities, including public shelters.

Invitation to Apply for Sponsorship
HKIE GDC is considering to sponsor up to 2 engineers to join this Event. Subsidy on registration fee up to HK$5,000 will be offered to the successful applicants individually. To qualify, applicants shall satisfy the following basic criteria:
- Be a member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, of whatever class;
- Submit your current curriculum vitae;
- Prepare a written report on the Event.
The successful applicants may be invited by the GDC to share their experience of this Event which will be held in Hong Kong after the Event.
The applications will be assessed by the GDC based on the relevancy of this Event to their career development. The successful applicants will be notified no later than 1st April 2025.
