We had an insightful and impressive technical visit to the Central Kowloon Route – Central Tunnel. A big thank you to the client, the Highways Department, the supervision team, Arup-Mott MacDonald JV, and the Contractor, Bouygues Travaux Public for their arrangement and hospitality. The Central Kowloon Route is a 4.7 km, dual 3-lane trunk road that aims to alleviate traffic congestion in Central Kowloon. The visit provided a deep dive into the project’s complexities, especially the 2.8 km Central Tunnel. It was enlightening to see the advanced techniques used to manage construction in a densely populated area, ensuring minimal disruptions.
