The 11th Lumb lecture entitled “Bridging the gap between theoretical and actual slope performance”

In the evening of 03 Dec 2021, we have the privilege of inviting Ir Prof. H N Wong, the former Head of the Geotechnical Engineering Office, as the eminent speaker for the 11th Lumb lecture entitled “Bridging the gap between theoretical and actual slope performance”. Ir Prof Wong brought us to walk through a “time tunnel” on Hong Kong’s landslide history, enabling us to see how engineers have learned from observations, applied scientific reasoning to advance the theoretical understanding, and gradually built up our world-acclaimed slope safety management system. He also shared several inspiring thoughts on the way forward that we, as geotechnical engineers, should pursue in order to safeguard the standard of our slope engineering practices. Thank Ir Prof Wong for your insightful talk! You are welcome to re-visit the lecture here: http://www.civil.hku.hk/h6v1_4_event.html
