The CIE-HKIE-IEM Tripartite Seminar on “Crossover Technologies in Geotechnical Engineering” on 1 Nov 2023 in Taipei was an astounding success! The tripartite seminar is annually organised by the respective Geotechnical Divisions of Chinese Institute of Engineers (CIE), the HKIE and the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) on a rotational basis, with an aim to providing a platform for knowledge exchange and experience sharing in multi-discipline engineering. A total of 12 papers were presented by representatives from the three professional institutions. Our Chairman Ir Dr Gavin Toh and Ir David Mak from the HKIE Geotechnical Division (GD), Ir Dennis Wong from Arup, and Ir Stephen Mak from Meinhardt shared the cases in Hong Kong. We were happy to meet Prof Moh in the evening banquet, who initiated the idea of Tripartite and first seminar held in Taipei 2009! The delegates enjoyed a site visit to Taipei Rapid Transit Wanda Line on 31 Oct 2023 and also participated in the Asia Conference on Remote Sensing on 2 Nov 2023.
