The HKIE Geotechnical Division 45th Annual Seminar was successfully held on 9 May 2025, with over 600 participants joining us both in person and online! Under the theme “Advancing Geotechnical Practice: Sustainable Solutions to Land & Infrastructure Developments,” the seminar kicked off with an inspiring welcome speech by Ir Dr S W Lee, Chairman of the HKIEGD, setting the tone for a day of insightful discussions and knowledge-sharing. We were honoured to have Prof. CHU Jian, President’s Chair in Civil Engineering and Chair, School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and Ir Dr Julian S H KWAN, Assistant Director (Technical), Civil Engineering and Development Department, The Government of the HKSAR, as our keynote speakers. Their invaluable insights enriched the seminar and sparked meaningful conversations. Following the keynote presentations, we dived into three focused sessions exploring key advancements in our field: 🔹 Geotechnical Control and Underground Construction 🔹 Advances in Foundation Engineering for Infrastructure Development 🔹 Frontiers in Geotechnical Research and Practice The seminar concluded with closing remarks by Ir Prof Warren Dou, Chairman of the Organising Committee, celebrating a day filled with knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and innovation.
