Primary School Section

1. What is an Engineer?

Through examples from our daily lives, the Talk aims to introduce students to the contributions of engineers to the betterment of people’s lives and to help them gain an understanding of different engineering disciplines. In addition, it is expected to provide a valuable opportunity for students to learn more about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects and the engineering profession, and to arouse their interest in engineering.

Secondary School Section

1. Get Ready to Be an Engineer

The purpose of the talk is to offer career information and advice to students. The talk intends to exemplify the dynamism of the engineering profession to students and enable them to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the engineering profession in order to facilitate them in charting their plans and careers in the future.

2. Meeting with the Outstanding Young Engineers

The speakers for the talk are the recipients of the HKIE Young Engineer of the Year Award from 2003 to 2021. The biographies of the speakers are set out in Appendix I for your reference. You may indicate your choice of speaker on the enrolment form for this topic. This talk aims to provide a platform for experience sharing between these outstanding awardees and students. It is hoped that these elite engineers can act as role models for students to plan for their own future. Teachers are welcome to liaise with the speakers for the most suitable topic according to the interests of the students.
