Update on the Legislative Council Election 2020 Engineering Functional Constituency / Information Technology Functional Constituency

 

Legislative Council General Election
postponed for a year to 5 September 2021

Amid the severe COVID-19 epidemic situation, the Government has announced to postpone the 2020 Legislative Council (LegCo) General Election, originally scheduled for 6 September 2020, for a year to 5 September 2021, in order to protect public safety and public health as well as to ensure elections are conducted openly and fairly.

In line with the Government’s decision, the Institution will hold in abeyance the provision of services for candidates standing for the Engineering FC / IT FC Election and will keep members posted should further information becomes available.

Legislative Council Election 2020 Engineering Functional Constituency / Information Technology Functional Constituency

A general election to elect 70 members for the seventh term of office of the Legislative Council (LegCo) is to be held on Sunday, 6 September 2020.  Of the 70 seats, 35 members will be returned by geographical constituencies (GCs) and another 35 by functional constituencies (FCs).  One member each is to be returned for the Engineering FC and for the Information Technology (IT) FC respectively.
