Newly-Installed HKIE President Ir Alice Chow Kin-tak “Together we RISE”

(25 June 2025, Hong Kong) The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (“HKIE”) is pleased to announce that Ir Alice Chow Kin-tak has been elected as the 51st President of the HKIE at the 50th Annual General Meeting held on 24 June 2025. Ir Chow, the first female President of the HKIE in half a century since its establishment with a statutory status in 1975, will embark on the mission to guide the HKIE towards new accomplishments. Concomitantly, Ir Eric Ma Siu-cheung becomes the Immediate Past President of the Institution, continuing to provide guidance for the HKIE’s development.

President Ir Chow has set the theme “Together we RISE” (同心同創) for Session 2025/2026, aiming to assemble outstanding engineers, harness collective wisdom and talent, and consolidate efforts to confront future challenges as a unified force. “As the HKIE celebrates its Golden Jubilee, marking 50 years of establishment, this occasion prompts reflection on the past and sets the stage for future endeavours. Despite ongoing challenges in the external environment, engineers must uphold their professional ethos, build with passion, embrace a culture of innovation, and equip themselves to adapt to an ever-changing future,” said Ir Chow. President Ir Chow expressed her commitment to collaborating closely with the Institution’s leadership to drive strategic transformation and actively respond to members’ expectations.

Ir Chow emphasised, “Engineers are not merely problem solvers but creators of the future. As Hong Kong’s leading engineering professional body, the HKIE remains attuned to contemporary trends while responding to societal demands for engineers. The theme ‘RISE’ highlights Resilience, Innovation, Sustainability and Equity, encapsulating these attributes of engineers to propel the development of the sector.”

With a wealth of experience encompassing more than three decades in engineering, corporate governance, and sustainable development, Ir Chow’s fervor for industry service has remained unwavering. During her tenure, she endeavours to share her expertise, empowering engineering professionals, enhancing stakeholders’ comprehension of the profession, and steering the HKIE and its members towards a steadfast commitment to professionalism.

At the AGM, it was also announced that Ir Prof Frank Chan Fan and Ir Rupert Leung Kwok-yiu were re-elected as Vice Presidents. Ir William Luk Wai-lam was elected Vice President for this Session. The five newly Elected Ordinary Members of the Council are Ir Tony Ho Ying-kit, Ir David Lau Tai-wai, Ir James Sze Wang-cho, Ir Fanny Ting Pong-yau, and Ir Keith Yue Wai-pui.
