【Unity and Strength】On 5 September 2026, the HKIE members joined with fellow engineering professionals from across the Greater Bay Area (GBA) regions in the football exchange tournament “築夢灣區，工程為本，聚力前行—大灣區工程師（佛山站）交流足球賽” at Foshan and displayed remarkable determination and team spirit, securing a second-runner up in the end!
Co-organised by the HKIE, the Guangdong Provincial Association for Science, and 佛山市土木建築學會, the tournament not only marked the celebration of the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China and the 77th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, but the shared enthusiasm on and off the pitch highlighted the strong bonds forming in the GBA engineering community.
Bringing together engineers from Hong Kong, Macao, Guangdong, and Foshan, the tournament fostered camaraderie and exchange of technical insights beyond engineers’ day-to-day works. The HKIE Task Force on Communal Sports and Social Service (TFCSSS) looks forward to participating in more GBA sports initiatives as such, as we and our counterparts continue to shape the future of engineering together.
